چکیده

Provision of context to support the interpretation of information is an important issue for hypermedia. Information with no context loses e ectiveness in conveying its message to the user. Abstraction of information is an important mechanism for contextualisation of information. In hypermedia, abstraction can be used to assist users in locating information and understanding the relationships between information. Present hypermedia systems typically do not support abstraction e ectively and hence understanding the context of information is di cult. This is largely a result of inadequacies in the underlying model used to represent the hypermedia information. In this paper we demonstrate how the MGraph hypermedia model can be used to support e ective abstraction of hypermedia content and structure, and hence contextualisation. We demonstrate a prototype implementation of a system designed to allow utilisation of MGraphs.

How map based interfaces help the contextualization of information and the structuring of knowledge

The paper presents a design strategy for elearning hypermedia interfaces based on the notion of conceptual-navigational map. It proposes to analyze the cognitive and communication problems that arise in the use of hypermedia applications with specific goals, such as elearning courseware modules, with the linguistic tools of pragmatics and discourse analysis and shows how this can help in identi...

Context - aware Mobile Hypermedia :

Context-aware computing focuses on developing systems which through different kinds of sensory systems are able to collect information about the physical environment in order to, more or less automatically, adapt data and behavior to the user’s current context. The aim is to create systems that, rather than solely depend on explicit user input, can react to changes in the use-context and thereb...

Biomedical Adaptive Educational Hypermedia System: a Theoretical Model for Adaptive Navigation Support

The first Adaptive Hypermedia System (AHS) was presented in the early nineties (Furuta & Scotts, 1990), (Ginderen, 1990). However, this model was not based in World Wide Web (WWW). The first use in WWW appeared in 1996 (Brusilovsky, 1996). Currently, AHS are used for information recovery; interface adaptation, user assistance, learning support, dialogue, cooperation support and others applicati...

Information Imperfection as a Characteristic of Adaptive Hypermedia 1/31 Information Imperfection as an Inherent Characteristic of Adaptive Hypermedia: Imprecise Models of Users and Interactions

Adaptive hypermedia applications are aimed at tailoring hypermedia structures according to some form of user model, in an attempt to increase the usability and utility of the application for each individual or group. Existing research in the field has resulted in many systems, techniques and paradigms both for modeling user data and for the subsequent exploitation of such model for the sake of ...

XAHM: An XML-Based Adaptive Hypermedia Model and Its Implementation

This paper presents an XML-based Adaptive Hypermedia Model (XAHM) and its modular architecture, for modelling and supporting Adaptive Hypermedia Systems, i.e. hypertext-based multimedia systems that allow user-driven access to information and content personalization. We propose a graph-based layered model for the description of the logical structure of the hypermedia, and XML-based models for t...
